Early Intervention

(Birth through 2)

Babies and toddlers learn and grow in different ways. Some need a little extra help. This is where Early Intervention services come in. To be eligible for no-cost services, children must be under 3 years of age and have a confirmed disability or developmental delay in one or more of the following areas: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and/or adaptive. Eligible families receive an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Services are often home-based or day care-based instruction or therapies (Special Education Itinerant Services). The program is administered by the NYS Department of Health (.gov) through the Bureau of Early Intervention, but accessed through your county of residence.
